Leeds UFCA midfielder Eddie Tordoff admitted there are important lessons to take from the side’s 3-0 defeat to Route One Rovers - but believes the group will adapt as they gain more experience in NCEL Division One.

Despite a competitive opening period, Leeds UFCA found themselves behind after conceding a 35th minute penalty - a moment which shifted the momentum of the game.

“Up until the penalty, I thought we were very much in the game and comfortable,” said Tordoff.

“But it was a poor goal to give away, and from there, we’ve conceded another two that were avoidable. It’s the kind of stuff we’ll iron out in the coming weeks as we adjust to playing at this level.”

With a young side on display, Tordoff emphasised the difference in intensity and physicality between youth football and men's football - acknowledging it’s a learning curve the group must embrace.

“Men’s football is a completely different ball game compared to youth football,” he said. “It’s a different level, a different intensity, a different physicality.

“It’s the small things we need to work on now - things like overplaying in certain areas and knowing when to keep it simple. But that will come with time. The more games we play at this level, the more experience we’ll get, and the better we’ll be for it.”
